In September 26th, 2013, it was published in the newspaper “Diário dos Açores”, the confirmation of the feasibility of the Geothermal Pilot Power Plant of 3 MW, after the conclusion of the short-term testing of the geothermal wells PA2, PA3, PA4 and PA8 on the Pico Alto Geothermal Field, on Terceira Island.

A long-term testing of the well PA4, which is the well with the highest production capacity, is now being prepared and it’s estimated to last until March, 2014. The construction of a “Geothermal Pilot Power Plant of 3 MW, on Terceira Island” is to be financed by the EEA Grants 2009-2014 (read more).
